Job Description:
The Data Center Professional Services Engineer is responsible
for providing Design, Implementation and support of Cisco’s
industry leading Unified Computing System (UCS) fabric products and
framework that simplifies the process to build, manage and connect
Cloud computing environments. This role serves as a technical
escalation point for the Systems Engineers, collaborate with
Pre-Sales Engineers in designing new 'Data Center' solutions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Installation
? Take ownership of project
? Work with sales team and manager to determine scope of
installation
? Work with project coordinator to know when equipment will arrive
at the company or customer location
? Participate in installation coordination between customer and our
firm
? Coordinate necessary resources with manager, peers, and project
coordinator
? Perform installation on-site or remote, whichever project
dictates, to company standards
? Communicate progress to manager, project coordinator, sales team,
and customer
? Attend project update conference calls
? Document configuration and archive any configuration files
? Document implementation notes and time in project for job costing
accuracy
? Provide any required close-out documentation to customer or
projector coordinator.
Troubleshoot
? Take ownership of problem
? Assess business impact and act accordingly
? Use first-in/first-out (FIFO) protocol as much as possible
? Communicate timely with customer and sales team
? Perform effective troubleshooting
? Resolve a problem and communicate the solution to the
customer
? Document work and time in ticketing system for accurate
billing
Qualifications
? Provides review of Data Center infrastructure – architecture,
processes and plans for Cisco's Unified Computing Systems, B/C/E
Series and Nexus 1000 to Mountain States customers, account
teams.
? Troubleshoots complex data center interoperability, configuration
or performance issues related to VMWare, OS (Windows, AIX and
Linux), x86 server architecture, iSCSI or FC, SAN/NAS and LAN
switching.
? TSM Backup knowledge is a Plus.
? Applies analytical skills and technical knowledge to solve
product and network problems of moderate to high complexity.
? Effectively utilizes moderate to complex lab setups to recreate
and solve problems.
? Provides technology/product training and intellectual property
material as required.
? BS in CS or EE or related field plus 3 years Data Center related
experience with Servers (Blade servers, x86) and OS Support
(Windows, Linux and VMWare).
? Requires in-depth knowledge of the following areas: Data Center
Networking and Data Center Products.
? Demonstrated networking experience including TCP/IP and Routing
Protocols.
? Troubleshooting experience using finisar, wireshark, or other
protocol analyzer.
? Experience with networking side of the Data Center
? Experience or Certifications in one or more of the following is
preferred: MCSE, RHCE, VCP, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE
? Prior experience with UCS-B Series Blades (UCSM) and/or Nexus
1000 preferred
? Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), B/C/E Servers, and Nexus
1000
? Windows 2008/2012, VMware (ESX, ESXi), AIX, and Linux Operating
Systems Environments
Data Center backup technologies: Comvault, Symantec.
? Storage architectures, (NetApp, EMC, iSCSI, NAS, NFS, Fiber
Channel)
? Designs and implementations for Data Center Solutions
? Multi-vendor platform and interconnect component
interoperability
? A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical
standards
? Excels at operating in a fast-paced environment
