Job Summary
Patient care in the Division of Surgical Oncology, Breast
Surgery
Come join our collegial, patient-centered practice at a world class
institution. The Advanced Practice Clinician (physician
assistant/nurse practitioner) role in the Division of Surgical
Oncology, Breast Surgery provides care to patients in a University
Health Sciences/Huntsman Cancer Center clinic and hospital unit.
Individual will provide care for patients withbenign breast
disease, acute breast issues (abscess), undiagnosed lumps,
high-risk breast lesions, and breast cancer. Responsibilities of
this role include participating in operative first assist,
preoperative and postoperative care and treatment of breast disease
in the outpatient setting. Participation in the education of
residents, medical students, nursing students, and APC students is
expected. The individual will have the additional opportunity to
develop new clinical services. The Breast surgery team currently
consists of 5 Attending Surgeons and 1 APC. Incredible health care

This position is considered Category I: Mandatory and required
on-campus or health care facilities to support on-site operations.

Responsibilities
Operative first assist at community sites (South Jordan,
Farmington) 2 days/week.Independent outpatient breast care clinic
1-2 days/week.Inpatient rounding, post-operative care, and hospital
discharges.Cover consultations from the emergency department or
other hospital services.Respond to outpatient messages and
telephone calls.Participate in continuing medical education to
include specialty and sub-specialty meetings, clubs, boards and
conferences.Serve as integral part of education team: working with
residents, medical students, nursing students, APC students.Assist
in data collection for research projects.Participate in special
projects and committee functions including team meetings and
education conferences.This job description is not designed to

Minimum Qualifications
Required
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of
Utah.
Preferred
Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your
department or by privileging criteria.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or
equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current
licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification
which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited
examination.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply
for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated
