Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Labor and Delivery Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 3 days per week Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of one year preferred License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC required Certifications: - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification - Required - Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Certification - Required Must-Have: - Nursing skills and knowledge for Labor and Delivery - Ability to float to locations within 60 miles - Ability to perform duties outside original assignment as needed Job Description: - Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation and interviews. - Review medical records and clinical data to evaluate patient responses and ensure optimal outcomes. - Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. - Demonstrate competency in therapeutic and diagnostic interventions, including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection. - Advocate for patient health, safety, and rights. - Provide patient and family education tailored to learning readiness and needs. - Deliver relationship-based care with respect for cultural differences. - Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel in compliance with state regulations and hospital policy. - Optimize the use of time, personnel, equipment, and supplies for cost-effective care. - Serve as a professional role model demonstrating ethical practices. - Manage resources effectively to meet unit and patient needs. - Uphold hospital policies and regulatory guidelines to guide practice. - Foster open communication and mutual respect within inter-professional teams. - Precept and mentor new staff or nursing students. - Pursue continuing education opportunities to maintain clinical skills. - Participate in unit-based quality improvement and research activities. - Use healthcare research to enhance clinical knowledge and role performance.
