Range: Actual pay may vary up or down depending on job-related

for this role *Job SummaryThe Director of Portfolio Management
leads optimization of our organization's portfolio of Technology
initiatives. This strategic role ensures alignment between
initiatives and business objectives, driving prioritization,
resource allocation, and value realization. This position will
bring deep expertise in portfolio management, strategic planning,
and governance, with a focus on delivering measurable business
outcomes and fostering cross-functional collaboration.Essential
Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute the Technology portfolio management strategy, ensuring
alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
- Collaborate and influence across cross-functional stakeholders
and leadership to identify, prioritize, and balance investments
across competing initiatives.
- Develop and maintain processes to reconcile intake to supply,
generating and maintaining a multi-year Technology roadmap that
aligns capabilities with business strategy.
- Partner closely with Product and Enterprise Portfolio
Management offices to ensure alignment.
- Establish and lead the necessary processes and cadences
required for Technology portfolio intake and prioritization, in
collaboration with cross-functional partners, to triage and ensure
onward flow towards decision-making.
- Establish and lead Technology portfolio governance frameworks,
ensuring effective decision-making and transparent oversight of
initiatives.
- Establish and facilitate regular portfolio reviews to ensure
visibility of execution progress, financials, capacity challenges,
project risks, and value realization.
- Monitor portfolio health and provide regular updates to senior
leadership on progress, risks, and opportunities.Performance
Metrics & Value Realization
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure
portfolio performance, resource utilization, and return on
investment.
- Ensure initiatives deliver measurable business value and align
with strategic objectives.
- Define and iterate criteria and measures to inform portfolio
prioritization, funding allocation, and performance tracking.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews to assess outcomes and
identify lessons learned for continuous improvement.Capacity
Management
- Partner with Technology leaders and managers to ensure optimal
allocation of talent, budget, and other resources across the
portfolio.
- Identify gaps in resources or capabilities and make
recommendations to address them.
- Leverage data-driven insights to optimize resource utilization
and mitigate bottlenecks.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks across the portfolio,
ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Implement robust risk management practices to minimize
disruptions and ensure project success.Stakeholder Engagement &
Executive Communication
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders,
facilitating collaboration and alignment.
- Communicate portfolio strategy, priorities, and performance to
stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Adapt communication to the audience, critically at the
executive level, and flex between tactical project-level
conversations and strategic portfolio discussions.
- Provide aggregate reporting on portfolio health and prepare
executive presentations in a crisp and digestible format.Leadership
& Team Development
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing portfolio management
team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Drive the adoption of portfolio management best practices and
tools across the organization.
- Champion cross-functional collaboration and serve as a role
model for effective leadership.
- Drive organizational transformation and change management
initiatives.Supervisory Responsibility
- This position manages employees and is responsible for the
performance management and hiring of the employees.Travel
Requirements
- Less than 25% travel required.Education
- Minimum: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Business Administration,
Information Systems, or a related field.
- Preferred: Certifications in SAFe Agile, Prince2 / APM, Lean
Six Sigma.Experience
- 10 Years of experience in portfolio management, program
management, or related leadership roles.
- 5 Years of experience leading portfolio management.
- 3 Years supporting a technology-focused portfolio.Knowledge,
Skills, and Abilities
- Proven track record of managing complex, large-scale portfolios
with competing priorities.
- Experience implementing portfolio governance frameworks and
driving strategic alignment across teams.
- Expertise in program and portfolio management leadership, with
experience overseeing large portfolios, driving strategic
alignment, prioritization, and managing investments & value
realization.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills with a focus on
delivering measurable business value.
- Proven stakeholder management skills, building credibility with
executive leadership.
- Ability to flex between strategy and detail, adapting
communication styles across different levels of the
organization.
- Experience delivering results by collaborating and influencing
business and technology delivery teams in highly matrixed
environments.
- Strong executive presentation, communication, and influence
management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish collaborative relationships
and move with speed while bringing people along.
- High degree of emotional intelligence and ability to remain
calm and focused under pressure.
- Preferred experience in a highly regulated industry.
- Preferred familiarity with portfolio management tools (e.g.,
